Joshimath is basically known as Jyotrimath located 255 km away from Rishikesh on Badrinath road on Gandhmadan Mountain. One can find the description of GandhMadan mountain in “Skandh Puran” (Hindu Spiritual epic) and according to our Spirituals epic, The Nar and Narayan has worship over the years on this mountain and the Urvashi took birth on the Gandhmadan, Lord Vishnu calms his anger on this hill and Narshingh temple is significant of this, It is Winter seat of Badrinath.

It is one of the maths or monasteries which was established by Adi guru Shankaracharya in 08th century. In that place, he gained enlightenment under the Mulberry Tree which is 5000 years old but people believe that it is 10,000 years old tree. Joshimath is very close to China Border, One can visit Niti pass, Bhavishya Badri, Tapovan from there. The view from Joshimath is tremindious, you can see the beautiful “Elephant hill” and “Sundri Hill” from there.
